Q Headed To 'Sota

Quentin Richardsen has been traded yet again. Hope he gets frequent flier miles. For the third time this summer, Q is moving in the NBA. We moved the Rhino, SeaBass, and the Mad Dawgg for Q this time, which means we got rid of 3 decently valuable assets for one expiring, yet more valuable piece.

Im one of the guys on the bus that Rhino and Bassy could have gotten us more in return than Q, but in all reality it doesn’t make much difference. Both were players that were going to get less playing time next season than they deserve. Bassy is a capable backup, but having drafted a starter and a backup at his position, it was only fitting we would do a move to appease him. Rhino had a similar problem with having the teams two best players from last season in front of him. The writing was on the wall, and both had to be moved.

Q is a slashing guard that will mesh well with Rubio, Love, and Flynn, but I question his fit with big Al. He has had a very shaky jump shot, and can sometimes be a black hole once he puts the ball on the floor. He fits right in with the Run-N-Gun offense that Kahn has stated he wants to run next year, which will pair him with the other 3/4 of our top players perfectly.

Although it may be awhile until something goes down, I can’t help but take Kahn’s  quote to mean that he doesn’t think Q will be here once the season starts:

“I’m excited about the possibility of having Quentin on the team,” Kahn said. “I also don’t want to indicate we’re done on any of this. This will be a very active summer because of our [expiring] one-year contracts”

The other thing this makes you feel is that this trip to Spain means a whole lot more than it did a day ago. With only one  PG on the roster that knows how to play basketball, the Wolves need Rubio to come over now more than ever. To me, this means that Kahn is likely going over there to finalize the buyout and announce Rubio as a Wolf within the next week. Remember, that’s only speculation.. this is what Kahn said when asked about it:

“This isn’t a precursor of any sort,” Kahn said. “I have no feel yet whether Ricky will be joining us next season or not.”

Sounds like he’s just covering up the real story to me. Guess we will know soon if I’m right or wrong.

Great days to be a Wolves fan.
