Yesterday was media day for the 2009-10 Minnesota Timberwolves. From Corey Brewer talking Tim Tebow to Big Al touting Jonny Flynn as the next Chris Paul, the event was exciting and interesting for all kinds of Wolves fans.
All the players did interviews with timberwolves.com and took pictures to display for the upcoming season. Most of the players were pretty excited to get training camp going in Mankato (they arrived today), and were even more excited to meet their new teammates.
Some main points from the interviews and photos:
Big Al said he lost 30 pounds. He said he worked himself as hard [...]

Is This The Year For Big Al?
“Big Al” Jefferson has had quite the career so far. He has gone from a mid 1st round pick to a go to guy (when Pierce was injured) in his three years on the Celtics. After his breakthrough third season, Jefferson was the main piece sent to Minnesota in return for Kevin Garnett, one of the top Power Forwards of all time. Immediately the best player on the team when he stepped on the floor, Big Al has put up some great numbers the past two years. Both years he had the type of stats that would usually put a [...]
Sasha Pavlovic Signing
The presumed last move of the off-season has finally happened. The extremely fluid roster of the Minnesota Timberwolves has been solidified with the signing of Sash Pavlovic. In case you don’t know who Sasha is, he is the 24 year old SG/SF from the Cleveland Cavaliers team that went to the finals. Towards the end of that year, as well as in the playoffs, Sasha was a staple in their starting 5, and was a key lock down defender. At 6′7-8 depending on the source, Pavlovic has no problems guarding the taller SFs in the league, and with his quickness [...]
5 Facts About Sessions Signing
This story is pretty old from an internet story standpoint, but I was waiting for a press conference on this issue from the team. However, it doesn’t seem like on is going to be coming for a few days at least. So instead of breaking down quotes from the presser about how Sessions is going to be used this upcoming season, I will do my own analysis on the Sessions situation. Here are 5 things to take away from the signing:
1. This will NOT take minutes for Flynn. Sessions will be the backup PG and starting SG. Both will receive [...]
2010 Update: 9 Possible Players
With the Songaila having come and gone, the Wolves see themselves better positioned once again for the 2010 off-season. Every bad contract we had in our possession at the beginning of the year is now gone, and the only contracts we have left on our team past next year are reasonable contracts for players that belong in the NBA (minus maybe Pecherov and Brewer for that last part). However, hearing about how all of these moves are so amazing from myself and other writers may not show you exactly how much power this gives the team next off-season. Knowing all [...]
On Wednesday afternoon, the Wolves completed yet another summer trade. Another player has come and gone just during this offseason, and another player on last year’s roster will be playing for another team maybe next season. In return for Songaila and Brown, the Timberwolves receive Antonio Daniels and a 2014 2nd round pick. Daniels is in the last season in his contract, and could provide some much needed veteran depth for the Wolves this season at the guard position, while the 2nd round pick is most likely as a formality to make the deal look just a little bit better [...]
Allen Iverson To Grizzlies?
Alright, this may not be about our Wolves team, but this story is so mind boggling amazing, I had to comment on it. Allen Iverson, Mr. Practice has gone from being a $21 million a year player to a man that settled for a one year deal worth $3.5 million. Not only is this a huge pay cut from the team, but his endorsements are way down as well. When is the last time you saw Iverson’s clothing line in Foot Locker? Probably 2 years ago. Now he can’t even get a winning team to take him for the minimum. [...]
Carney Signs With 76ers
On Tuesday, the 76ers stole what many thought was the Wolves’ last move of the summer by signing Rodney Carney to a 1 year deal. Before the summer started, we knew the current state of the economy as well as the impending changes to the CBA in 2010 would hurt players’ chances to get the types of contracts that they would have previously gotten in prior offseasons. After a summer filled with his agent fishing for offers, Carney finally signed the only amount he was offered by any team. The league minimum aka $855,189. All summer it has been spectated [...]

Ramon Sessions?
David Kahn is nothing if not both active and unpredictable. Coming just days after the announcement of Rubio staying in Spain for two more years, the Timberwolves are on the verge of signing Ramon Sessions to an offer sheet according to Gery Woelfel of the Journal Times.
Though Sessions is talented and a second point guard is a position of need at the moment, this seems like a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to Rubio not coming over. I don’t understand why Kahn would do this, cutting into next summer’s cap space. Sessions finds ways to score and create for his [...]
