Opening Night: Wolves Host Nets

AUTHOR: Matthew P.C. Holmquist | IN: Timberwolves | COMMENTS: 2 Comments |

The day has finally arrived. Your Minnesota Timberwolves will take the court tonight facing a Nets team that is in a very similar situation as the Wolves. Both teams are in a rebuilding stage, and have a great centerpiece for that rebuilding. Although Al Jefferson is coming off of a major surgery, there are extremely high expectations for him this year in Rambis’ new high-paced offense. On the other side of the ball, Devin Harris has flourished ever since he was traded to the Nets for Jason Kidd. He is the go to guy in what was a pretty good offense last year, and he is expected to be even better this year once again.

The Wolves’ Flynn and Ellington were questionable for tonight’s game, but both have been cleared to play. The expected starting lineup for the Wolves is Jefferson, Gomes, Wilkins, Brewer and Flynn.

Expect to see alot of Ramon Sessions as well tonight, with some SG mixed in with his natural PG spot. Rambis has said that he doesn’t like Sessions and Flynn together, but many are speculating that he will see how it works in real game situations tonight.

Tonight is a winnable game, so expect the team to be extremely fired up by the home crowd.

Matt’s prediction: Wolves 98 – 94 Nets

I remember when we used to win… What is going on, we have all the factors to be a great team. I really think we just need someone to step up and be vocal.

Ahh, I wish I had something new to say, like what a crappy few games but thank god we are back on top… But I don’t because the Wolves straight up SUCK this season. Do you think there is any hope of us winning more than a game here and there?
