In what I hope becomes a regular piece of our wesbite I have enlisted the help of the lead blogger of our opponent. Today I sat down for a Q&A with Buckets Over Broadway blogger Short White Boy. By the way his site is a great site and definitely worth a visit.
DWW: Where do you think the Knicks have the biggest advantage in tonight’s game?
SWB: I don’t usually examine teams in a position-by-position analysis because the Knicks do a lot of switching, swarming and zoning, very rarely leaving one guy isolated to play D against another one. So for instance, [...]

Wolves Win! Wolves Win! Wolves Win!

AUTHOR: Derrick Willis | IN: Timberwolves | COMMENTS: None Yet

Minnesota ended their 5 game losing streak last night by downing the Clippers 111-97 at the target center. The Wolves outrebounded the Clips 47 to 41 and were led by Corey Brewer’s 3rd straight 20+ point game. Big Al was on his way to another disappointing performance until he scored 12 of his 14 points in the 4th quarter. Jonny Flynn, Kevin Love, and Ryan Hollins all chipped in very solid games as well. The Wolves did surrender a Clippers franchise record 23 points in one quarter to Baron Davis. Kurt Rambis did a much better job with both his [...]

T-Wolves Midseason Report

AUTHOR: Derrick Willis | IN: Timberwolves | COMMENTS: None Yet

We are approaching the All Star break so I think it is time to review and preview.

Midseason Awards
Player of the Year: Despite playing in only 27 of the first 47 games due to injury Kevin Love is my Player of the Year. He is averaging a double double, shooting a high percentage from the foul line, grabbing nearly 5 offensive rebounds per game, and all of this will continuing to improve his shooting. Runner up: “Big” Al Jefferson.
Rookie of the Year: Almost by default the winner is Jonny Flynn. He is averaging 8 points per game more than Wayne Ellington, [...]

Wes Johnson Scouting Report

AUTHOR: Derrick Willis | IN: Timberwolves | COMMENTS: None Yet

As promised here is your Wes Johnson scouting report with the debut of my “Big Board.”

Name: Wes Johnson
Ht: 6′7″ Wt: 190
Pos: SF Class: Jr.
College: Syracuse
Overview: There is nothing about Wes Johnson that screams stud. There is also nothing about him that screams bust. Simply put; Wes Johnson is a ballplayer. He has very nice form on his jumper. He has the potential to become lights out from 3-point range but as of right now he doesn’t attempt many treys. His ball-handling skills are good enough to succeed in the NBA. When he attempts to drive into traffic his ball-handling [...]

Timberwolves Lose Again

AUTHOR: Derrick Willis | IN: Timberwolves | COMMENTS: None Yet

Here are the highlights from tonight’s loss

The Cavaliers were able to rest their starters in the 4th as they cruised to an easy 109-95 victory. The Wolves put up a bit of a fight in the beginning; they trailed by one after the 1st. Minnesota was paced by Corey Brewer’s 22 points and Kevin Love’s double-double (20 points, 10 rebounds). The Cavs were paced by J.J. Hickson’s 23 points and Lebron James’s double-double (12 points, 11 assists). It was encouraging to see a better performance from Minnesota, but in reality they were still beaten badly considering (as I stated before) [...]

Official Game #47 Thread

AUTHOR: Derrick Willis | IN: Timberwolves | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Tonight in what has to be the most anticipated matchup of the year (for at least 3 or 4 folks) Minnesota will face off against the Fighting Lebrons.
Preview: In able to win Minnesota has to do something they haven’t done in the past few nights, play well. They have to play to their strengths meaning they have to feed their big men (Love and Jefferson). Both Love and Al need to clean the glass. Corey Brewer will most likely draw the assignment of defending Bron. The unfortunate side effect is Brewer will likely either end up in foul trouble [...]

T-Wolves Receive 132-105 New York Style Beatdown

AUTHOR: Derrick Willis | IN: Timberwolves | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Here are the highlights from the game

When you spot any team 15 points to start the game you are in trouble. When you allow a team to score 40 in the 1st quarter you are doing yourself any favors. When your PG turns the ball over six times while only dishing out 4 dimes you will need to rely on your other players. When your two star players score 12 points the game is already lost. I really wish they were playing the Globetrotters last night because it at least would have been entertaining………those crazy guys and that bucket of [...]
