Several league executives suggested the Minnesota Timberwolves could be a sleeper for him. Minnesota general manager David Kahn has been researching Thomas and has plenty of assets – three 2010 first-round picks, multiple second-rounders and a host of expiring contracts – to make it happen. Once the Timberwolves trade Al Jefferson(notes) this summer, they can re-sign Thomas and plug him into the frontline with Kevin Love(notes). Jefferson is expected to be traded for a talented, young small forward.
Trading for Thomas would be a way to get a long, athletic power forward with upside, and the Timberwolves could easily re-sign him this summer.
What do you guys think, would adding Tyrus Thomas be a good move? Well it will have to be more than just Tyrus because Minnesota doesn’t have any contracts that match up with Chicago. They would need to likely add two players and a draft pick or even take back two players in the deal. Tyrus is the type of athlete they are trying to add to the frontline along side Love and Jefferson.
Speaking of Big Al, how about the news reported in the story? They state he is going to be traded almost like it is fact. Crazy huh? If that is the case why not trade Big Al now? Is his value to low? I don’t buy this just yet. I don’t think you wait if you are planning to move him.
Sound off fellas, what says you?
