Rumor Central: Latest Buzz

We are hearing so many rumors with the draft and free agency around the corner, that I create the DWW Rumor Central Category to keep all this nonsense straight.  In the left side column, you can pick a category and if you choose Rumor Central, it will jump to a new page with just the rumors.

All rumors involving the Wolves including draft hear-say, plus free agency and trade gossip will be in include.

Wolves Interested in Rudy Gay From ESPN

Rudy Gay may not be on the level of LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, but the restricted free agent should get a lot of attention by clubs with cap room. According to Ronald Tillery of The Commercial-Appeal, one team in the upper Midwest fancies Gay.

Tillery writes: “One team that will make a strong run at Gay is the Minnesota Timberwolves. Team owner Glen Taylor and president of basketball operations David Kahn have already targeted Gay as an attainable player to uplift the struggling franchise.

The Gay to Minnesota conversation happened around the trade deadline last season and is an interesting option for the Wolves.

For me it comes down to how much it will cost to sign him.  If we re talking a max-level player then pass.  But if can get him for $9-$12M, I would be interested.

Ricky Rubio Update from Star Tribune’s Phil Miller

The 19-year-old Spanish star “hit it off” with coach Kurt Rambis after monitoring his potential teammates’ development from afar, Wolves Vice President David Kahn said on Friday after returning from a week-long scouting trip to Europe.

You can read the whole article here.

Don’t read too much into Rubio “news”, because who the hell knows what is actually going on, but this is a good update.

Anthony Randolph Update

It looks like the rumored trade would include Randolph and No. 6 from the Warriors in exchange for the Wolves No.4 pick.  And that is it.

Still not 100% sold, but am warming up to it.
