Not going to lie, I did not see that coming, but Jonah Ballow posted this on his twitter “Wayne Ellington will start at SG for the #Twolves tonight – tipoff at 7 PM”.
Interesting – here is a write from ESPN;
Just like it’s a bit of a surprise Landry Fields will start at shooting guard for the Knicks on Wednesday night, so too is it that Wayne Ellington will start at shooting guard for the Wolves in their opener against the Kings — news of which comes from Johan Ballow of Timberwolves.com.
Just like with Fields, this will be one to keep an eye on. Ellington has plenty of competition, and once Webster is back and Johnson has gotten some more NBA experience under his belt, it’s possible either could supplant him at some point.
Ellington had shown improvement during the summer league and also the pre-season, so he gets the nod. Minutes for Ellington have been a concern for me as we acquired Webster and Johnson, but apparently, Ellington’s game has grown much more than the “outsiders” realized. I have been impressed with his ability to get and finish at the hole.
