The Wolves host the Toronto Raptors tonight at Target Center. The Raptors are coming into town on a bit of a losing streak, however being matched up against us tonight is something they have probably been looking forward to. Since 2004 the Raptors are 12-0 against our home town pups, and look to make it 13 in a row while handing us our 7th straight loss.
The Wolves game plan has to be to keep the Raptors from getting good looks outside. This Raptors team is soft in the middle, so the Wolves should be able to keep them out of the paint pretty easily. They have quite a few sharpshooters from the outside, however, and the Wolves have been historically bad at defending the 3 all year. If I were Rambis, I would run a zone defensively that would keep their shooters from getting wide looks in the corners. Offensively, look for Beasley to have a solid game while matched up against Julian Wright. Love will be mostly guarded by Amir Johnson, who, while not in foul trouble, is an above average defender. Love may not have a lot of plays run through him while Amir is in the game, but expect him to be able to get his 42nd double double.
Even with the Wolves long standing troubles against the Raptors, I expect a win tonight at home, and this team to get out of this recent losing slump.
Prediction: Wolves 114 – 108 Raptors
