This may come as a shock to most Wolves fans, but I see through the mist, into David Kahn’s mind. Don’t get caught up in the record this season, or the fact that we don’t have a superstar. Look at what we have for assets. We have an All Star power forward, a small forward that can take over games, a European megastar coming over at point, a defensive minded center (that can be much more than annoying at times), and a slew of guards that can step up from game to game.
We are a young team that won’t see who we truly are until we let our players age and progress through their careers a bit more. The much needed experience and chemistry will come with playing together and learning game in and game out.
Now, this statement may seem at first glance like Kahn wants to keep this exact team and mature them all together, and never make another trade, because this team is perfect. However, all Kahn is really saying is that we finally found a few players that we can build around to become a great team. Sure, if the right offer is on the table, we will make a trade, and yes, Kahn will still be trying to get a top tier talent here, but we won’t see any more offseason makeovers where we only bring back three players from the previous season. That kind of “rebuilding” is over with.
In the end Kahn was just trying to explain that we finally have a few players on our team that are more than just assets. They are our building blocks that will be sticking around for awhile, so you’d better start getting to know these ones.
