Ricky just announced on his Twitter account that he’s moving to Los Angeles to begin the next phase of his life – the NBA life. This is a good sign for Timberwolves and NBA fans in knowing that Rubio is coming over here for good to get acustomed to life in the United States. He most likely has some workouts lined up with other NBA players, hopefully including Timberwolves 2011 #2 overall pick Derrick Williams. Williams has been working out in Los Angeles in preparation for the NBA season.
We have our fingers crossed that Rubio also has good vibes for the NBA lockout ending soon, and that training camp will soon be under way. There is also speculation that Rubio could have a shampoo endorsement contract in the works, but that is completely unofficial. The young Spaniard has the passing game and the looks of Pistol Pete……but can he develop a rebounding game like other taller point guards? Rubio is 6’3 and should be able to be an effective rebounder in the league. He does have some flaws in his game, such as shooting, but that can be developed. Jason Kidd was another tall point guard with great passing skills who could not shoot early in his career. Kidd developed enough of a shot to make the Top 3 in All-Time 3-pointers made in NBA history. He must put in the work to develop the consistent shooting. We have heard and seen enough of Rubio to know that he wants to be great, and the dedication to put in the work will be there.
