Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley is set to host an exhibition game on Friday, October 21st that will take place at Osseo High School. Proceeds from the event will go to Beasley’s foundation that benefits St. Jude’s and three Minneapolis charities, according to Beasley’s website for the event. The game will feature Timberwolves 1st round draft pick Derrick Williams as well as up-and-coming NBA stars John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Joakim Noah, and Jeff Green. Other Timberwolves players participating will be Wes Johnson, Martell Webster, and Wayne Ellington.
Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson will be one of the celebrity coaches, along with former Lakers “Showtime” guard Norm Nixon. Nixon played for the Lakers during the early 1980’s. No word yet on if Peterson intends to have his squad plow down the middle for power lay-ups.
Is it too late to get “Pretty” Ricky involved, and where is Kevin Love on this day? Regardless, this should be a fun event and good for “B-Easy” for putting it together. My only beef with the event is that Jim “The Sauce” Kleinsasser is not the other celebrity coach.
In honor of the event, here’s a clip of Beasley’s game winning shot versus the Clippers last year. Hopefully more to come after the lockout.
