Two distinct teams are set to square of in Indiana tonight at 7 PM ET. The Indiana Pacers are currently looking to secure home court advantage in the playoffs as the #3 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Timberwolves are looking to end their 9 game losing streak in Indy and play spoilers to the Indiana Pacers who, unlike themselves, are headed for the post-season.

It will certainly be a tough task ahead for the Timberwolves to accomplish tonight. The Pacers are 20-8 at home and are currently on a 4 game winning streak and winners of 8 of their last 10 games. The Pacers are looking to prepare themselves for the playoffs where they are anticipated to face Orlando Magic at this point. Led by Danny Granger, the Pacers are one of the deepest teams in the NBA today and certainly will be a threat to any Eastern Conference powerhouses such as the Celtics, Heat, and the Bulls. The Timberwolves on the other hand are 12-19 on the road and are losers of 9 of their last 10 games. Playing already without Ricky Rubio and lately, Kevin Love, the Wolves’ 2nd half of the season has just been the same as the previous 2 seasons for Minnesota.

The last time these two teams squared off was still during the first half of the season when the Wolves had Rubio and Love and were highly projected to make the playoffs as the 8th seed. In that game, the Wolves fell to the Pacers at Target Center 109-99, where Danny Granger scored 29 of his 36 points in the vital 2nd half. Everyone on the Pacers starting lineup reached double digits while the Wolves’ relied on Kevin Love and Luke Ridnour who combined for 37 points with Love pulling down 17 rebounds. Nikola Pekovic had a double double that night as well with 13 points and 12 rebounds. However, despite having Love and Rubio present in that game still, the Wolves fell mainly because of bad defense and great offense from the Pacers in the 2nd half. Just like the 2nd half of that game, the 2nd half of the season for the Timberwolves has just been terrible and reminiscing of last season.

With Kevin Love still questionable to play in tonight’s game, the Wolves will need all they can get out of the other players especially from rookie Derrick Williams who has not been productive in the previous games. Beasley and Barea has been carrying this team as of late but still aren’t enough to bring the Wolves to a victory that could halt their losing streak.

Prediction: Wolves lose 10th game in a row with or without Kevin Love
