Kobe strikes Ricky Rubio again. No World Peace, no problem as the Lakers beat the Wolves 120-117 on Wednesday night ending their 3 game losing streak.  The Wolves lost their 22nd consecutive game against the Lakers and dropped to 25-45 on the season.

On a night when 8 Timberwolves scored in double figures, Kobe Bryant was too much as he scored a game high 31 points. For the Wolves Nikola Pekovic had a team high 19 points and 14 rebounds and Dante Cunningham finished with 18. Derrick Williams finished the night with 15 points and 6 rebounds, while Chase Budinger had 14 points. Ricky Rubio continued his great play as he finished with 13 points and 7 assists. Andrei Kirilenko, Luke Ridnour and JJ Berea and all finished with 11 points. Berea also had 7 assists on the night. As a team the Wolves shot 46% and the Lakers finished shooting 54% from the field and 10-22 from 3.

The Wolves were down by double digits late in the 4th quarter, and chipped it down to a single possession until Kobe hit a big basket with 48.3 seconds left in the game to make it back to a 2 possession game. The Wolves refused to go quietly into the night, but didn’t quite have enough in the closing seconds as the Lakers escaped the Target Center with the narrow victory.

The Wolves will play at home once again on Friday night as they host the Oklahoma City Thunder with a 7pm tip.
