Golden State, Denver, Chicago, Phoenix, and Philadelphia, in a relatively new twist, are the team names that have most often been bandied about the Twittersphere today as potential landing spots for Kevin Love before tonight’s draft concludes. On top of all of that, Darren Wolfson is reporting that a he would not be “shocked” by “news tonight”, implying a Love trade.
Philadelphia is intriguing, if only because they hold the #3, #10, #32, #39, #47, #52, and #54 draft picks. Surely, the Wolves would demand the #3 and #10 picks, along with either the #32 or a future first round pick. Thaddeus Young would also have to be included, although he can opt-out after next season.
Beyond Young and the picks, the Sixers don’t exactly have a ton of assets, and a third team would almost have to be part of any trade. There are also rumors that Philadelphia is considering trading their top three picks in the draft to Cleveland for the #1 overall pick.
It is indeed beginning to look like some major moves will be made this evening, and the probability of a Love trade seems to be inching towards 50-50. Anything could happen, and there have been a number of media members and writers that have suggested that tonight (in stark contrast to say, last year’s draft) could be one of the more active and crazy evenings we’ve seen in recent draft memory.
We’ll have periodic updates here at DWW tonight, including full write-ups on any moves or draft picks that the Wolves make.
