NBA Free Agency 2014: Farmar signs with Clippers, 'Melo undecided

While a crazy weekend in the NBA rumor mill, very little was actually accomplished on the free agent front.

From folks on the internet essentially stocking Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert’s jet (Is it in Miami? If it is, is the visit even related to basketball?) to apparently false claims by members of the UCLA athletic department that Kevin Love, Kobe Bryant, and Carmelo Anthony were all scrimmaging together at their facilities. This alleged event was debunked by nearly every credible NBA writer around, from Adrian Wojnarowski, to Chris Mannix, to Sam Amick. It simply didn’t happen.

So aside from UCLA embarrassing themselves greatly, not a whole lot happened this weekend. Jordan Farmar agreed to a two-year, $4.2 million contract with a player option for the second year. He will replace Darren Collison, who recently signed a four-year deal with the Sacramento Kings, as Chris Paul‘s backup at the point guard spot.

On the Wolves side of things, well, nothing happened. Again. The Summer League roster was announced on Sunday, and Kevin Love did not work out at UCLA. Not that it would have mattered if he was — it wouldn’t have, to be sure.

Another week gone, and zero answers on the Kevin Love trade front. At this point, it’s obvious that Love’s potential suitors are waiting for at least a couple of the LeBron James/Chris Bosh/Carmelo Anthony free agency shoes to drop. Luol Deng is also out there looking for a yearly salary in the neighborhood of $12 million, andthere are a handful of teams that seem willing to pony up for the former Bulls and Cavs wing.

The Wolves will open up their pre-Summer League training camp at Target Center on Monday. There will be a scrimmage on Wednesday evening prior to the team heading to Las Vegas at the end of the week for their five-game slate that begins on Saturday. Some of the games will likely be televised, live or on delay, on NBATV, or you can pay $15 to watch all of the games live through NBA.com.

Until then, we’ll keep our ear to the ground for any potential Love-related news, as well as any noteworthy quotes or updates from this week’s mini-camp.
