NBA Free Agency 2014: Is Wednesday finally the day?

Free agency is a week old, and we don’t have any answers. In Wednesday finally the day?

After rampant belief that dominoes would began to fall on Tuesday, there were literally zero agreements reported league-wide. There seems to be a fairly solid consensus that once Carmelo Anthony decides where to sign, LeBron James and Chris Bosh will be reported shortly thereafter.

Once the Big Three free agents have signed, the likes of Luol Deng and restricted free agent Chandler Parsons won’t be far behind. Dwayne Wade is on the market as well, although nobody really thinks he’d leave South Beach during the twilight of his career.

James is rumored to be meeting with Pat Riley in Las Vegas on Wednesday, and various reports, including Chris Sheridan of SheridanHoops.com, suggest that LeBron’s intent in the meeting is to tell Riley that he is leaving Miami and “going home” to Cleveland. Of course, Riley has previously done a successful sales job in getting James to sign with his team, so certainly don’t count the Heat out entirely just yet.

That said, it does seem as though signs are beginning to point to LeBron’s return to Ohio. Which, of course, could potentially trigger a Cavs’ run at Kevin Love, among other moves.

As for free agency, it could send Anthony to Miami or back to New York, and Bosh could very likely end up in Houston, where general manager Daryl Morey has allegedly offered a four-year, $88 million contract to pair him with Dwight Howard.

At any rate, it seems likely that a number of moves could begin to fall into place in the next couple of days. This won’t have any immediate effect on the Wolves, but once the stars of free agency have found new homes, teams will begin to re-focus their sights on the Wolves and Kevin Love.

The Wolves Summer League team practiced twice on Tuesday, and will apparently do the same on Wednesday and Thursday in advance of flying to Las Vegas and beginning league play on Saturday. Of note, former Wisconsin Badger Ryan Evans and Watertown, Minnesota native and Northeastern alum Matt Janning have been practicing with the squad and have been named to the roster for Summer League.

We’ll have any significant news from across the league as it breaks.
