The first time to see Andrew Wiggins in a Minnesota Timberwolves jersey will be October 7.
Of course, if you live in or around Indianapolis it will be much easier to see him in person.
The Timberwolves have released their 2014 preseason schedule, and the first Target Center appearance for the likely Love-less Wolves will be on Friday, October 10 against the Philadelphia 76ers, somewhat coincidentally (if Thaddeus Young indeed ends up in Minnesota).
Also of note, the Wolves will play the Milwaukee Bucks in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on October 17, the Oklahoma City Thunder in Tulsa on October 19, and the Chicago Bulls in St. Louis on October 24.
The only Target Center appearances in the preseason will be the Sixers tilt and an October 21 match-up against Indiana.
Per usual, the preseason involves some weird nuances that seem unneccessary, which is doubly concerning considering that the length and sheer number of meaningless games that are unnecessarily played. For instance, the Wolves will play four games in six nights and five in eight when it’s all said and done, and within that stretch there is a back-to-back Minneapolis-to-Milwaukee trip.
Granted, starters won’t be playing heavy minutes in any of these games, but it’s still a lot of games crammed into a small period of time immediately before launching into an already-too-long 82 game season with endless back-to-backs.
All that to say…only two months and a couple of days until the Wolves preseason kicks off. We’re getting there, slowly but surely…
