The Minnesota Timberwolves have been teasing the reveal of their new jerseys as part of the teams’ redesign, but as of yet, we haven’t seen anything official.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been undergoing a transformation. It started with the Kevin Love trade, that brought Andrew Wiggins to the Timberwolves in 2014, and started the young three era of Wiggins, Karl-Anthony Towns and Zach LaVine.

The transformation continued when the Timberwolves revealed their new logo and announced new uniforms would be revealed ahead of the 2017-18 season.

Although the new look of the Timberwolves has continued to take place, with the arrival of Jimmy Butler among others, and the departure of Ricky Rubio, LaVine and Kris Dunn, we are still yet to see anything official of the new jerseys that our new look Timberwolves are to be wearing into battle.

More from Dunking with Wolves

Apart from confirmation that the Timberwolves’ new sponsorship deal includes a Fitbit patch on our new jerseys, there isn’t all that much information on the web out there.

Is this part of Nike’s plan to keep their takeover of the NBA jerseys next season a bit suspenseful, or are the Timberwolves trying to build the hype around the new era? Perhaps the Timberwolves have been too busy planning their huge offseason to plan an official announcement?

The wait has been very painful for fans like myself, who just want a glimpse of what our beloved Wolves will be wearing on the court next season.

Although plenty of concept art has made itself known on the internet, how close any of them are to the real deal is anyone’s guess.

The official NBA shop has started selling Butler’s Timberwolves jersey, not in the old style we’re used to, but in a much darker, blander style, albeit still with the Adidas logo emblazoned on the bottom.

While the Adidas logo means these aren’t the jerseys the Timberwolves will be wearing on the court next season, could they be a little hint of what is to come?

In all honestly; probably not. The NBA Store has them listed as ‘Black Chase Fashion jerseys’, and they look more like a training singlet than a fully fledged jersey to me.

There is also the possible leak from NBA 2K18.

These jerseys feature both the Fitbit logo and the Nike tick, adding to their credibility, although they obviously could be fake.

The trees along the sides seem to fit in with the Timberwolves’ plan to incorporate green back into the team’s identity, and the jerseys themselves look quite similar in style to the college jerseys Nike has been creating for years.

There are still some hopes the jerseys will look similar to the following, due to its’ winning of an ESPN best concept award in a redesign competition in the past.

However, the scarceness of the green makes it unlikely these jerseys will be similar to the official redesign.

The group also designed a logo, which differs very much to the Timberwolves’ official new logo design, which further distances the project from reality.

Nothing is certain about the Timberwolves new jerseys until we get ourselves an official reveal sometime in the future, however the front office must either be restricted on their speaking from Nike, or confident they’ve got something special to delay an announcement this long, when all of the new signings are opening a whole new interest that the Timberwolves haven’t seen for years.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have boosted their relevance in the league this offseason, and while new jerseys would surely be flying off the rack, the delay of the announcement should give Wolves fans hope that something special is coming.
