Jimmy Butler recently sat down for an interview with Bill Simmons on his podcast.

After listening to Jimmy Butler on the Bill Simmons podcast, which was released on Monday, a few things became obvious.

The biggest aspect that jumped out to me is Butler’s confidence. He knows he works his butt off and gives his best every day. This allows him to be confident in his body of work both on and off the floor. Undoubtedly, he has learned this demeanor for his first and current head coach, Tom Thibodeau.

He also expects his teammates to put in the same amount of work. He talked glowingly about Karl-Anthony Towns‘ work ethic as well. He shared that he always checks up on Towns, who always seems to be either entering or leaving the gym.

The new acquisition is also confident that the Minnesota Timberwolves will be major players in the upcoming season. He repeatedly said “we’ll be fine,” while talking about Minnesota’s chances in the tough Western Conference.

Butler also said that he goes on a trip every year with his “guys” over his birthday on September 14th. He shared that after he returns from that trip is when he will come to Minnesota.

The shooting guard also shared that he hasn’t yet watched film of his teammates, but will begin doing so in a couple of weeks. He and Bill talked about watching film of Towns’ pick-and-pop game and discovering where Towns likes the ball.

He also had a very interesting conversation with Simmons about the pickup basketball in Los Angeles. I’m sure as an NBA player it can be very difficult to find a game worthy of your time. Butler talked about being in a group text message with other NBA players and that’s how they organized the games. It was a great inside look at the player’s lives, even though Butler tried extremely hard to be private about the details.

If you haven’t already, I definitely recommend checking out the interview. It’s well worth your time.
