Happy Fourth of July everyone!

Hope you woke up downtown in an alleyway next to some dive bar had as great of a time as I did over the weekend!

Many things have happened since the free agency session has opened in the NBA. None of which have anything to do with the Timberwolves in any sense, but I’m going to analyze them anyways, so you may as well pretend to enjoy it.

The two biggest stories I saw over the weekend were that of Ron Artest and Rasheed Wallace. Both are great players coming towards the end of their prime, bat shit crazy, and moving cities to a contender.

In RonRon’s case, he is headed to the defending world champion Minneapolis Los Angeles Lakers. The major reason I hated this team last year was Kobe the lack of toughness on their roster. Outside of Kobe (who takes care of business when he has to, no one on this roster last year had the type of personality to call someone out or get into another team’s player’s face. Everyone has a laid back attitude, and most of the time it just seemed like they didn’t give a damn. Ron Artest changes all of that. Sure, losing Trevor Ariza is a large loss. He made some key defensive plays in the playoffs that helped this team become the champs. Ron Artest will not only make these plays, he will get into the heads of their opponents and literally change the way they go about the game. He is a baller. If I were going up against anyone on that team last year, and they told me they would kill me, I would have laughed it off. Think about how you would feel If Ron Artest said that to your face. :Ron Artest with a straightface: “Insert your name here, I’m going to be waiting at your car after the game.” You would be scared shitless that this dude will be waiting there with an oozie. That’s right, not a 9, an oozie. Enough about this nutjob.

Rasheed Wallace. I’m not going to say the man is misunderstood like many others would like to say… he may not be the cancer many think he is, but he does bring some… tendencies of a failure to a team. I think Rasheed has all the talent in the world. A big that can play PF or C, hit the 3, AND bang down low. Oh, and hes not all that bad at defense? A great asset! Unless that same guy is disinterested in the game 80% of the time. I feel like this is the only situation that would have worked out well for Rasheed. Orlando may have the personnell that he would fit into best, but the Celtics have the best emotional mindset for the man. Kevin Garnett has been known for making his teammates give 110%, even in practice. KG and Sheed have been close buds since KG’s days in Minny, so there is no way Sheed will undermine the main man the moment he hits the gym with his new BFFF (that’s right, Best F***ing Friends Forever). KG is the one reason Sheed will have a career year hustle wise (not numbers wise, hustle wise)… buuut it will also mean that this Celtics team may WILL set the record for F-Bombs dropped in every category (Game, season, playoffs, etc.) Should be fun to watch.

Other interesting notes:

Turk to Toronto? -all while demolishing portland fans’ hope of contending next year

Ariza to Houston?- Wonder if he saw TMac play last year…. OR the news on Yao? will be a rough year for that team

Villanueva/Gordon to Pistons?- Did they forget their best 2 players were already at SG/SF?

That’s it for tonight, I’ll check back in tomorrow.
