NBA Talent Rankings: How the Timberwolves stack up against other young teams (Part One)
8. Philadelphia 76ers

They Might Be Decent: Tony Wroten, Arnett Moultrie
They Might Be Outta The League: Elliot Williams, Brandon Davies, Pierre Jackson
Sam Hinkie’s approach to the managing the 76ers reminds me of this menacing Tom Waits song/poem:
What’s he building in there? What the Hell is he building in there?
While Hinkie could be taking 76er fans for a ride, none can deny the fact that he’s drafted four very impressive prospects in just the last two years. Michael Carter-Williams, Nerlens Noel, Joel Embiid, and Dario Saric are unique talents, and each has the potential to grow into an All-Star caliber player.
Most fans know Carter-Williams as a talented guard who won Rookie of the Year last season. They also know that if healthy Embiid and Noel figure to become dynamic defensive front court for years to come. Americans know less about Dario Saric, the Croatian forward who likely won’t be coming stateside until 2016. But let me tell you, this guy is good.
Saric is a 6’-10″ point forward with great ball skills, a developing post game, and the ability to consistently shoot from mid-range. He also has an aggressive nature that can’t be taught and a feel for the game that is advanced beyond his years. He’s tough, too. Last week during World Cup play, Saric had several teeth knocked out of his mouth, yet he remained in the game and finished with 16 points.
Hinkie has something brewing in Philly. We’ll just have to wait a few years to see how it all comes together.
