#3 – Kevin Martin

Martin is perhaps the player most often rumored to be moved by the Wolves. We also talked through all of the reasons why Flip Saunders won’t or can’t move the veteran guard at the preceding link, so I’ll summarize it here.

In short, he’s expensive, aging, and a poor defender. But he’s still a positive offensive player that can knock down three-pointers and free throws in his sleep, and that has value. Washington and Dallas are both allegedly very interested in acquiring Martin, but neither makes a lot of sense as a trade partner from the Wolves’ perspective as we touched on in the aforementioned piece here at DWW.

Saunders has allegedly turned away even casual inquiries into Martin’s services, so it is beginning to seem more and more unlikely that he’ll be moved. But given that he probably is generating the most interest from other teams, there’s always the possibility that someone could see him as a big-time scorer come playoff time and blow Saunders away with a multi-draft-pick offer.

You never know.
