7. Greg Steimsma – Toronto Raptors

Ah, the Steamer.

The former University of Wisconsin Badger from Randolph, Wisconsin was signed to a make-good contract as rehab fodder for Al Jefferson as he worked back from ACL surgery in the spring and summer of 2011.

After the Wolves waived him when they were done with him he caught on in Boston, playing in 55 games and even starting three. He was a very good backup center in his 13.9 minute per game role and appeared in 17 playoff games in a season that ended with an Eastern Conference Finals loss to the eventual NBA champion Miami Heat.

Stiemsma signed back with Minnesota after the season and played in 76 games, starting 19 and doing a good job for a 31-win team. He signed with New Orleans as a free agent last season and played even heavier minutes with the Pelicans than he did with the Wolves.

He was signed by the Toronto Raptors before the 2014-15 season and ended up playing a third-string role, appearing in just 17 games and playing only 66 minutes. The ol’ Steamer won’t have an affect on the Raptors playoff run.
