3. Corey Brewer – Houston Rockets

Old friend Corey Brewer finished his second stint in Minnesota by being sent off to Houston on December 19th once it was clear that a rash of injuries had already derailed what Flip Saunders had hoped would be a miraculous year by the Timberwolves.

Brewer was reunited with Kevin McHale, who was the head of basketball operations with the Wolves when they selected him seventh overall way back in 2007 out of the University of Florida.

The whirling dervish that is Corey Brewer has once again been unleashed as the career 29% three-point shooter is launching five three-point attempts per 36 minutes, second only to the 5.5 per 36 minutes he attempted under George Karl in his final year in Denver.

He’s been a good fit for the intriguing roster that Daryl Morey has assembled in Houston and is an interesting pairing behind and alongside Most Valuable Player candidate James Harden. He’ll probably play north of 25 minutes per game off the bench for McHale’s Rockets. The first round match-up against the Dallas Mavericks is interesting — it’s also the team that Brewer won his championship ring with alongside Barea in 2010.
