19 years, 7 months and 22 days after he was drafted by Minnesota, Kevin Garnett was swapped with Thaddeus Young, leaving the Brooklyn Nets to make his long-awaited return to the Target Center. I’m sure many fans thought this day would never come after witnessing the franchise’s best player head to Boston in 2007 and spend nearly eight years calling somewhere other than the Twin Cities home.

On paper (and in reality) this move by Wolves management had nothing to do with what KG would bring onto the court for the remainder of this season. The mentoring aspect that Garnett will hopefully continue to bring to this extremely young team next season is immeasurable.
The 38-year-old’s return did not go exactly as planned, but did anybody really expect KG to play in the majority of the team’s games down the stretch? Anyways, while the return of the Chicago native was what the night of Feb. 20th was all about, this was actually one of the best Wolves wins of the season, defeating a playoff team in the Washington Wizards by 20 points.
