Fit with the Timberwolves:
In terms of a fit with the Timberwolves, Towns is almost the ideal big man who would address a huge weakness in the Timberwolves roster. Towns can play the power forward position as well as the center position and would be able to help this Timberwolves team that ranked last in the NBA in many major defensive statistical categories.
Additionally, Towns would be able to learn from Kevin Garnett, who will undoubtedly be able to teach Towns a few things about basketball. Having Garnett as a mentor would give Towns a huge advantage in his development as a future NBA star.
Overall, Towns seems like the best choice for the Timberwolves as of now with their first pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. His ability to position himself defensively and his rebounding are both areas that the Timberwolves need major improvement in, and Towns could greatly help those issues. Additionally, he’s likely the most talented player in the draft, so it makes sense that he would go first overall.
I’ll leave you with this video that has surfaced in the past few days of Towns beating Wiggins in a three-point contest a couple of years ago. Does this answer any questions about his jump shot? It certainly might.
