Weaknesses:
Offensively, Jones doesn’t have a glaring weakness. However, his size could be a problem at the NBA level as he’ll be competing against much stronger players than he did at the college level. If he can get stronger, he has the overall athleticism to keep up with most point guards in the NBA.
Most of Jones’ weaknesses are on the defensive end. Overall, Jones was poor on the defensive end when he wasn’t gambling and creating steals. His on-ball defense was subpar and he easily allowed player to blow by him and create scoring opportunities in the paint. Additionally, much like D’Angelo Russell, he struggled fighting through screens and tended to get lazy when trying to defend the pick-and-roll. Although we saw some improvement from Jones towards the end of the season, his defense is still a major concern as he makes the transition to the NBA ranks.
