This is the eighth piece in a series of NBA Draft Profiles that will look at prospects that the Timberwolves have shown interest in and may eventually draft in the 2015 NBA Draft. The eighth profile will look at Kristaps Porzingis.
One of the most controversial names in this 2015 NBA Draft Class is power forward Kristaps Porzingis of Latvia. He’s controversial because his ranking seems to vary from roughly fourth-overall to tenth.
According to Darren Wolfson of KSTP Sports and ESPN 1500, the Timberwolves are going to attend a Porzingis workout, indicating that they have at least some interest in the Latvian star. Still, it seems unlikely that Porzingis winds up in Minnesota after the 2015 NBA Draft.
Porzingis definitely seems like a hit-or-miss type of prospect. At the young age of 19, Porzingis has dominated the Euroleague and has shown some serious star potential at the NBA level. However, too many times we’ve seen these European prospects that have been hyped up quite a bit before the NBA Draft become disappointments. Hopefully, for Porzingis’ sake, the trend doesn’t continue with him.
