It should come as no surprise to anyone that Kevin Garnett is atop this list.
I grew up with Kevin Garnett as my favorite player. He still is today and will be until the day I die. There is not a single player that I have seen that plays with more passion for the game than Kevin Garnett. No one wants to win more, no one wants to play harder — that’s just the way KG is. If you need proof, watch this:
That video still gives me the chills.
As a kid growing up, Kevin Garnett had an unbelievably huge impact on the way I live my life. If there is one thing KG taught me, it’s that you should work your hardest in anything you do, even if it’s not basketball.
In the history of Minnesota sports, there is not one single athlete that has had a bigger impact on the Twin Cities area than Kevin Garnett. Not Randy Moss, not Joe Mauer, not Torii Hunter. Kevin Garnett.
He brought Minnesota to the forefront of the sports world simply because of his play. There had not been this much attention on the area since the Twins won their last World Series in 1991. It should serve as proof of KG’s impact when he returned this past season to Minnesota. The ovation he got from the sellout crowd and the energy that was in the Target Center that night had not existed since he left in 2007.
Finally, this man made the Timberwolves what they are today and what they will be for years to come. He is the only player in NBA history to be one franchise’s leader in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.
He’s the only Timberwolves player to win the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award and he’s the only Wolves player to make over three All-Star teams (Garnett was on 10 as a Wolf). He is solely responsible for the greatest, most important game in Minnesota basketball history.
Don’t know what I’m referring to? Here:
And that is the greatest game in Timberwolves franchise history. No arguments, no debates.
I could go on and on and on about The Big Ticket, but I’ll stop it here. I think I got my point across.
And there you have it. The Top Fifteen Timberwolves of all-time have been counted down. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments, and stay tuned to DWW throughout your holiday weekend!
