The 1-11 Plus a Buzzer-Beater Game
It was the first year that Kevin Love really established himself as a dominate NBA player, and it was also Ricky Rubio‘s rookie season. The Timberwolves had to show the nation how much they had improved and even had an upcoming ESPN-televised game in Los Angeles to prove it.
Ricky Rubio struggled offensively the entire game, but he hit one huge shot that gave the Timberwolves’ a chance to win it late. Rubio was 0-for-10 from the field entering the final 30 seconds of the contest, but Luke Ridnour drove and kicked the ball out to Derrick Williams who swung it to Ricky, and Ricky finished shooting 1-for-11 from the floor and as one of the heroes in a big win.
Not only did Ricky hit the game-tying three, but he played great defense on Chris Paul on the next play, which gave the Wolves’ the ball back with 1.5 seconds left.
The next play, Luke Ridnour in-bounded the ball to Kevin Love, and Love hit the game-winning three as time expired. That night, that game was frickin’ awesome!
