1. Golden State Warriors

Ah, finally we’re at the defending champs, and they’re at the top spot in the West. No surprise there.

And it really won’t be a surprise next season, unless Luke Walton is a really, really, really bad coach — which he probably won’t be, since he’s regarded as a future coach in this league — if they’re the top team in the league once again. Plus, Steve Kerr may not ultimately miss that many games anyways.

After retaining their entire core (the Blazers are jealous) and basically all of their bench, the Warriors look primed to tear up the league again. Their ball movement and team defense is unmatched, they’re the best shooting team in the league, and, oh, they’ve got a guy named Stephen Curry. You know, the MVP of the league last year? Yeah, not a big deal or anything.

There’s really not much to say about this squad other than teams have to be prepared to see a lot of cutting, screening, and three-point shooting. Kerr’s principles offensively and defensively have given this group a sense of confidence that is higher than probably every other team in the league. The Warriors are on the top of the world, and they as well as their competition know that.
