Individual Breakout Season

[table id=27 /]

The Case for Nemanja Bjelica

This is almost a no-brainer and honestly, kind of a cop-out. Bjelica is already a professional basketball player. He won the Most Valuable Player award in Euroleague a year ago. And he’s a 27 year-old rookie. But he’s new to the NBA, so anything that comes as mildly surprising to casual fans or the general public will be considered a breakout. And to be fair, he is technically a rookie. – Ben Beecken

More from Dunking with Wolves

The Case for Shabazz Muhammad

Muhammad grew last season and showed flashes of why he was billed so highly coming out of UCLA. Injuries kept him from making progress last season, and it’s somewhat frustrating watching him have the ball in his hands far more than he should. Playing around with him and Wiggins switching between the two and the three-spot can create various mismatches, which should merit increased playing time.  – Tomas Matias

The Case for Andrew Wiggins

What player on this team isn’t due for a breakout? The Wolves are super young and have 6 players that could realistically have breakout seasons this year. I’m going to go with the obvious pick though and say Andrew Wiggins. He got better every month last season and ended the season on a hot streak. He should take another large step towards stardom this year, especially since he has improved players around him. – Randy Spurlock

Final Count: Nemanja Bjelica (3 votes), Shabazz Muhammad (3 votes), Andrew Wiggins, (2 votes), Zach LaVine, Gorgui Dieng, Nikola Pekovic (one vote each)
