#3 – Kevin Garnett Wins 2003-04 NBA MVP Award
We already touched on Garnett’s insane 2002-03 campaign back in #17. And it was insane.
But for all the craziness that ensured that year, it was only setting up the monster year that 2003-04 was for Garnett and in turn, the Wolves. He averaged 24.2 points, 13.9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2.2 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game and led the Wolves to a 58-24 record and eventually a berth in the Western Conference Finals.
It was absolutely a deserved honor. The Big Ticket received 120 of 123 possible first place votes and finally received the national recognition that he’d been earning for so long.
To be clear: it remains the best all-around season of Garnett’s illustrious, Hall of Fame career. And it was awarded as such.
