#28 – Kevin Love Wins 2012 Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout
The idea that the Timberwolves actually had a player representing the franchise in the three-point shooting contest at the NBA All-Star Break was quite shocking, really.
You can count on one hand the number of times that has happened in franchise history, and Love was a budding star at this point in time. He had just been named to his second consecutive All-Star Game and was only 23 years-old. Casual fans were learning his name and beginning to figure out just how good he was.
Add in Ricky Rubio‘s participation in that weekends BBVA Rising Stars Challenge and it was a weekend chock-full of young Wolves. The team stood at a record of 17-17 and the playoffs were in site, especially with Rick Adelman at the helm.
After Love’s win and All-Star Game appearance, however, things went downhill when Rubio tore his ACL less than two weeks later. But at least Love got his trophy, right?
