#24 – Timberwolves Take Over 2015 All-Star Weekend

The Timberwolves won just 16 games in 2014-15, and they didn’t send any players to the All-Star Game’s main event at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

But they did have quite a presence in the events leading up to the big game, with four players appearing in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge on Friday night. Andrew Wiggins scored 22 points and was named MVP in leading Team World to the victory over Team U.S.A., who was paced by Zach LaVine‘s 22 points. Gorgui Dieng also played for the World while Shabazz Muhammad suited up for the U.SA.

Saturday’s main event was the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest, and Zach LaVine provided what many would consider to be the highlight of the entire three-day weekend.

LaVine opened by donning Michael Jordan‘s #23 jersey from the 1996 movie Space Jam and received perfect scores of 5o points for each of his two dunks before defeating the Orlando Magic’s Victor Oladipo in the final round by a score of 94-72.

Here’s hoping for a repeat performance at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto this coming February.
