#1 – Kevin Garnett, Farragut Academy, #5 in 1995 draft
This is a no-brainer, of course. Garnett is a surefire Hall of Famer and probably a top-15 player of all-time.
It was a gutsy pick by the Wolves’ brain trust at the time. Garnett was a raw high-schooler, after all, and this was pre-Kobe, pre-McGrady, pre-LeBron. But then again, the woeful Timberwolves franchise had nothing to lose.

Garnett will almost surely forever be the best player to ever suit up for the Wolves, but he also was never surrounded by enough talent to get the franchise to the NBA Finals. That doesn’t change the fact that he’s far and away the best draft selection by the Wolves, of course, landing him #1 on our list.
