Top 10 Draft Picks in Timberwolves History
By Ben Beecken
#4 – Wally Szczerbiak, Miami (Ohio), #6 in 1999 draft
Wally World was the last Wolves draft selection before the Joe Smith-induced sanctions, and he was Kevin Garnett‘s sidekick for a few seasons, even making the All-Star team in 2001-02.
Szczerbiak suffered from foot and knee injuries that began limiting him in his fourth season, limiting him to just 28 games and a bit role in the Timberwolves’ run to the 2004 Western Conference Finals in his fifth season as a professional.
He was a 40.6 percent career three-point shooter and played on five Wolves playoff teams. Szczerbiak retired after the 2008-09 season with the Cavs and remains one of the better players and top scorers in Timberwolves history.
