#11 – April 11, 2014 – Corey Brewer: 51 points, 6 steals, 2 rebounds, one assist, one block
Corey Brewer was a lottery pick by the Timberwolves and has spent two separate memorable stints in a Wolves uniform. He’s an energetic role player and a very good havoc-creator who is best used as a bench piece on a contending team.
But on this spring evening in a season that just barely slipped out of the Wolves grasp (this win actually put the Wolves’ record at 40-39 on the year before losing their last three contests), Brewer was the main source of offense for the Timberwolves.
Brewer tallied 51 points on 19 of 30 shooting. He knocked down 2 of 6 three-point attempts and was 11 of 15 from the free throw line, and outside of a wacky six steals, didn’t do anything else in the box score.
The Wolves won on a basket by Gorgui Dieng (who put up 12 points and 20 rebounds of his own) in the closing seconds, but this night belonged to an unlikely hero in Brewer.
