#8 – January 27, 2008 – Al Jefferson: 40 points, 19 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, one steal

Big Al Jefferson was still in his first season with the Timberwolves after being included as the centerpiece of the Kevin Garnett trade with the Boston Celtics in the summer of 2007 when he dominated the New Jersey Nets in January of 2008.

The Wolves finished the season with a record of 22-60 but this home win against the Nets was part of a stretch that saw Minnesota win five of seven contests.

Jefferson scored 40 points on 13 of 21 shooting but made a living at the free throw line, draining 14 of 17 attempts from the charity stripe. He hasn’t been known as a big-time rebounder but managed to grab 19 boards in this game, taking advantage of New Jerseys’ thin front line.

Jefferson’s tenure in Minnesota was never quite what boss Kevin McHale had been looking for, but he continues to be a solid player to this day and remains one of the best low-post scorers in the game.
