#20 – February 7, 2001 – Kevin Garnett: 40 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks, one steal

By February of 2001, Kevin Garnett was about to attend his fourth NBA All-Star Game and was still just in his age-24 season. He was just beginning to gain recognition as one of the top big men in the game, and his February 7th dominance of the Sacramento Kings solidified that reputation.

Garnett dropped 40 points on an ultra-efficient 17 of 22 from the field including knocking down both of his three-point attempts in a 117-88 victory. It was the rare non-double-double game for Garnett that was still dominate, but he did add six assists and a pair of blocks.

Wally Szczerbiak added 20 points and Anthony Peeler had 15, but there wasn’t much additional firepower on the 2000-01 Wolves. In fact, on this particular night, Todd Day led the bench in scoring with 10 points.

And don’t forget that the Kings were on their way to 55 wins in the 2000-01 season before notching a 61-win season in 2001-02 that saw them reach the Western Conference Finals, so this wasn’t exactly against a slouch of a team.

Additionally, it boosted the Wolves to a 32-18 record on the year en route to 47 wins.
