#2 – April 22, 2003 – Kevin Garnett: 35 points, 20 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, one block

To this point in Garnett’s career, the Wolves had lost in the first round of the playoff in six consecutive seasons. Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, and the Los Angeles Lakers made it seven in a row in 2003.

The Timberwolves were a 51-win team that lost Game 1 at home against the Lakers, but Garnett and his teammates came to play in Game 2, dominating the proceedings by a final score of 119-91.

Garnett scored a game-high 35 points on 15 of 21 shooting and pulled down 20 rebounds in what, to this point, was the most important game of his career. Troy Hudson dropped 37 points of his own and Wally Szczerbiak added 21 points for the Wolves.

The Wolves won Game 3 on the road, too, before losing three contests in a row to continue the putrid streak of playoff losing to seven seasons. All that would change in 2004, of course…
