Minnesota Timberwolves Christmas Wishes: Trades and more…

I wish Sam Mitchell could find a consistent rotation.
If you were to head over to the Timberwolves Reddit message board, you’d see a lot of people calling for Mitchell to be fired. Many Wolves fans have lost hope in Mitchell’s coaching abilities and are begging for someone new.
I won’t speak on whether Mitchell should be fired other than saying he probably will not be fired, at least not until the season ends.
It’s rare that we see an organization fire an interim coach, no matter how bad, and I think Mitchell will coach at least till the end of the season. So with that, the one wish I have is that Mitchell finds a consistent rotation. I realize that he’s experimenting with things, to see what works best, but it’s time.
It’s just puzzling to me how Karl-Anthony Towns only plays 16 to 20 minutes on a given night, but Gorgui Dieng will play 30 on that same evening. As much as I love Gorgui, Towns gives the Wolves the best chance to win basketball games. Sometimes, I think Mitchell thinks he’s coaching a fifth grade team — he seemingly tries to get everyone equal minutes so their parents don’t get mad at him.
I just wish he could find a solid starting lineup and a consistent bench rotation. That will only help the players find their roles on the team. At this point, it could become a detriment to the team’s chemistry and identity.
