Again, this is not to say that J.R. Rider was necessarily a ābetter scorerā than Sam Cassell, but itās hard to ignore eighth all-time in franchise scoring, plus a 20-plus point per game season and an 18.8 points per game three-year stint in Minnesota.
Rider also shot 35.9 percent from beyond the arc for his Timberwolves career before heading to Portland and eventually Atlanta, each stops in which he had a 19-plus point per game season to his name.
Rider only played through his age-30 season, but he was a potent scorer and exciting dunker early in his career, as youāll see in the highlight video above. The efficiency wasnāt exactly there, but the sheer volume of shots and points was impressive and itās impossible to deny the impact he had on those poor Wolves squads from 1993 through 1996.
