#7 – Christian Laettner

Laettner was a Duke superstar drafted third-overall by the Wolves in 1992. He was unfairly expected to solve the fledgling franchise’s three season losing streak, and failed to reach those lofty expectations.

But he turned into a solid NBA player and actually managed some legitimate, star-quality seasons. Laettner sits seventh on the Wolves all-time scoring list despite only playing three and a half years in Minnesota.

He averaged 18.2 points per game as a rookie and 17.2 points overall with the Wolves before making his first and only All-Star team at age-27 with the Atlanta Hawks. Laettner played until he was 35 years old and was a solid backup big man for the balance of his career.

Three-plus high-usage seasons in a Timberwolves uniform was enough to vault him both to seventh on the total points list in franchise history and #7 on our rankings of the best scorers. Congratulations, Christian.
