#5 – Wally Szczerbiak
If this were a list of top shooter in Wolves history, Szczerbiak would rank even higher than #5. That said, he was still a very good scorer for the Wolves early in his career when he was able to stay healthy.
He made the All-Star team as a 24 year-old in 2002, perhaps undeservedly, although he did shoot three-pointers at an astonishing 45.5 percent clip that season. Over seven seasons in Minnesota, Szczerbiak scored 15.5 points per game while shooting 40.4 percent from beyond the arc and exactly 50 percent from the field.
Wally didn’t get to the rim a ton, especially as knee and foot issues plagued him as his career went along. That meant he also didn’t draw a ton of fouls, meaning that his primary value was as a perimeter shooter.
Still, Szczerbiak was a very good scorer and actually a solid passer for a player that largely saw minutes at the small forward position throughout his career. (He was also known for his lackadaisacal defense, but that didn’t affect this particular ranking.)
Szczerbiak was an easy call for a top-five scorer in Timberwolves history, and he stills sits fourth on the all-time points list for the franchise.
