#4 – Stephon Marbury

Marbury only played for the Timberwolves for the first two and a half years of his career before it became apparent that he would be unable to coexist with the other alpha dog on the team in Kevin Garnett.

It’s a shame, as the above video highlights just how good the tandem was for such a fleeting moment, and who knows what they could have accomplished together. Marbury actually only averaged 16.9 points per game in his Timberwolves career, but the fact that he is a 19.3 point per game career scorer that was pretty much only known for offense was enough to vault him to #4 on our list.

Marbury wasn’t a big-time outside shooter but was decent at getting to the free throw line, where he was a 78.4 percent career shooter, and a better distributor of the basketball than he’s often given credit for in basketball circles.

He was so athletic and gifted with the basketball in his hands that it’s still one of the greatest “what-ifs” in Wolves history. If only he could have kept his ego in check to stick around just a few years longer…who knows what could have been?
