Offensive MVP: Karl-Anthony Towns

The only two players worthy of this award are Towns and Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins has been difficult to watch at points this season, and Towns has been fairly consistent all season, so I’ll give it to him.

I guess I cannot say a whole lot that hasn’t already been said. To this point, he has completely shattered the expectations set for him, and has proved to be better than advertised.

He is the Wolves’ leader in nearly every advanced offensive statistic, this includes win shares, offensive box plus/minus, value over replacement, and win shares per 48 minutes. Beyond all that you can still make the case that he is being underused to a degree on offense.

More from Dunking with Wolves

He holds the third-highest usage percentage on the team, but a lot of the complaints about Towns’ misuse lie within the fact that he’s only playing 29 minutes per game. I think Towns probably gets the right amount of minutes, I think what causes this issue is Sam Mitchell’s insistence on sticking with a particular rotation late in games. At times, that leaves Towns on the bench when he should probably be playing.

In the end, I don’t think Towns is being underused, I just think Sam Mitchell picks the most inopportune times to sit him.

Anyway, Towns is an easy pick, and if you’ve watched the Wolves at all this season, you’ll understand that, I’d hope.
