An early look at the Timberwolves’ draft board
Brice Johnson– Forward, North Carolina
2015-16 Stats: 10.7 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 1.3 BPG
Player Strengths: Johnson is a tremendous athlete with a work ethic that is unmatched by many in college basketball right now. He’s great at attacking the rim, and finishing with authority.
He can also step out and knock down a mid-range jumper when he needs to. Johnson is a very mobile player for a power forward which gives him advantages on defense, and he can even guard multiple positions besides his own.
Player Weaknesses: At 6′-9″ he’s considered undersized for a power forward. He could add some strength to his long frame, which would help him when rebounding the basketball. Johnson also has the potential to expand his range out to the three-point line, which would make him very dangerous.
Player Comparison: I think Johnson will become a “jack-of-all-trades” player in the NBA. He’s very versatile on defense, and plays with tenacity on offense. With that, I’d say a good comparison would be Shawn Marion, who was a great athlete as well as a versatile defender.
