Other, Less Likely Possibilities

Buddy Hield – Guard, Oklahoma: Hield has been the sensation of college basketball this season and that has seen his draft stock skyrocket. I think the Wolves should look into Hield, as I think he’ll be a great three-point threat when he comes into the league.

However, it all depends on what pick the Wolves have; Hield is the sort of player that teams are going to reach for. If the the Wolves have the fourth pick for example, they should not be reaching for Hield, especially if Jaylen Brown or Dragan Bender are still available.

Kris Dunn – Guard, Providence: Dunn is one of the more gifted scorers in college basketball today, and he is high on a lot of draft boards. However, he is a point guard, and as we know the Wolves have Ricky Rubio and they drafted Tyus Jones just last summer. I think the Wolves are committed to Rubio long-term so picking Dunn would not make a ton of sense.

Jakob Poeltl – Center, Utah: Poeltl is on the Timberwolves’ radar, but I don’t think he fits into this team. The Wolves have a two good centers in Karl-Anthony Towns and Gorgui Dieng, and they also have Nikola Pekovic. So, I don’t see where Poeltl fits in here.
