Kevin Love selected to 2011 All-Star Game

It was 2010-11 and the Timberwolves had been without an All-Star since Kevin Garnett in 2006-07. Kevin Love was in the midst of his breakout season, averaging 21.4 points and 15.5 rebounds per game. Despite those unreal stats, Love was not selected to the All-Star game as a reserve (by Gregg Popovich, of all coaches).

It seemed that all of Love’s hard work and Wolves’ fans support had gone unnoticed. However, when Yao Ming went down due to injury, David Stern was tasked with replacing Yao. Naturally, the Love hype revved up again as Stern searched for a replacement.

In the end, Stern picked Love, giving him his first All-Star selection, and breaking the dry spell of Timberwolves All-Stars.
